onebir Posted February 7, 2007 at 05:02 PM Report Posted February 7, 2007 at 05:02 PM "What is 1kg More? 1kg More (short for “1 kilogram more in your travel pack”) is a non-official cause of charity crossing over travel. It runs behind the idea of travelers bringing 1kg of inexpensive educational materials in addition to their package to give away to some one that needs it along their journey, e.g. kids that cannot even afford a pencil rubber. The simple process of passing-communicating-sharing will no doubt enrich travelers’ travel experience and realize the positive cycle of charity work. " http://www.1kg.org/ Quote
doumeizhen Posted February 8, 2007 at 01:03 AM Report Posted February 8, 2007 at 01:03 AM I once traveled with a Chinese teacher who always brought pencils, notebooks and erasers on her journeys. When traveling in some more remote areas one often runs into poor children who skip school to beg. This is a good way to discourage the behavior, without feeling guilty for either not giving or giving them money. Quote
