kaox0018 Posted February 13, 2007 at 03:58 AM Report Share Posted February 13, 2007 at 03:58 AM I'm reading about Buddhism at http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E9%98%BF%E5%BD%8C%E9%99%80%E4%BD%9B&variant=zh-tw I keep seeing "十方三世一切諸" but i don't understand it. complete passage: 阿彌陀佛的願力，使得任何希望往生到西方極樂世界的眾生，只要「信、願」這兩個條件，就可以往生到西方極樂世界。「設我得佛，十方眾生至心信樂，欲生我國，乃至十念，若不生者不取正覺」。如果「信、願、行」具足，往生的品位還要更高。因為十方三世一切諸佛都稱嘆阿彌陀佛功德，所以念阿彌陀佛者，十方三世一切諸佛都加以護念。而且，不管是根性高下，只要念佛，乃至十念，現前、將來，必定能夠成佛，這是阿彌陀佛成佛前發的大願之一。所以，念阿彌陀佛修持佛法的人，「於我法中，得名第一弟子」（《無量壽經》）。今生能夠接觸到阿彌陀佛，也是無量劫來積累善根、福德、因緣的結果。十方諸佛與大菩薩都發願要幫助念佛眾生往生西方。眾生往生西方成佛之後，得佛智慧，還可以任意到各個佛國，幫助、救度無邊眾生。 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

L-F-J Posted February 14, 2007 at 02:36 AM Report Share Posted February 14, 2007 at 02:36 AM 十方 = 10 directions (north, south, east, west- four intermediate, above and below) 三世 = 3 worlds (past, present, future) pretty much all buddhas in "all places" and at "all times". p.s. if you are interested in buddhism and chinese check out this great message board www.lioncity.net/buddhism many chinese there, ordained monks and nuns of every tradition, and other fluent chinese learners of buddhism.
