They really do help.

I'm kind of curious. Why is using 要 considered impolite?

I've learned a lot from reading your corrections, thanks so much.

You may not be a teacher but your explanations are quite good considering English isn't your first language.

One mistake is my instruction,I said 你的学生 should be after 你 but I still write 你的学生和你.I should have written "你和你的学生“ instead.

要 here would sound too definite, too imposing, especially when others are also involved. 打算 here simply means "I'm thinking of doing", it's therefore more tentative, more polite.

By the way, it's not "你和你的学生" but "你和的学生"

I see how that could be perceived as impolite.

What I would actually rather say is:

''I would like to go hikig with you and my students...''

I consider that would be polite enough.

and yeah, it's my students! :mrgreen:

You know this is very helping. I've got this bookmarked and when I want to write e-mails I double check here to make sure I haven't made any mistakes.:mrgreen:
