Lu Posted March 19, 2008 at 08:11 AM Report Posted March 19, 2008 at 08:11 AM I also noticed that the US Consulate in Guangzhou, charges the Chinese applicants, to talk and ask questions. The applicant must pay a fee at a bank, then recieve a pin number. The length of time, depends on the amount paid. This is not just in China. The US embassy in Holland asks 25 euro for a phonecall, charged off your credit card (I suppose if you have no credit card, you have no business coming to the US in the first place). You'd expect that for that money you'd get someone extremely knowledgable on the phone, but someone told me how once after asking a question, they got a 'I don't know that. Any other questions? Ok bye!' Quote

OK, tell me what the form says.....ignorant in Illinois. My eyes were opened when I visited the web site http://www.candleforlove.com. It's hard staying optimistic that my fiancee will get through the interview process, provided she gets her long awaited date. Quote
HashiriKata Posted March 22, 2008 at 08:20 AM Report Posted March 22, 2008 at 08:20 AM As a condition for granting you the visa, they basically ask you to sign a form agreeing to be dumb, deaf and blind while in the US. (But since America is such a great country, don't let the above discourage you. It seems still worth it! ) Quote

woliveri Posted April 11, 2008 at 09:55 PM Report Posted April 11, 2008 at 09:55 PM yes, CandleForLove has some good information but it doesn't seem to have the best on how to compose your documents and what documents you need. From what I can see it's only to provide information on how things are going with ppl's applicaitons and any trouble they are having. This site is one of the best sites I've found so far for what documents are needed and the process involved: http://www.familybasedimmigration.com/ http://www.familybasedimmigration.com/forum/immigrantvisaflowchart.php This site is also very good: http://visajourney.com/forums/index.php?act=home and of course you know about: http://www.candleforlove.com/forums/index.php Quote
davidzq Posted April 11, 2008 at 10:04 PM Report Posted April 11, 2008 at 10:04 PM If visiting CFL, I'd recommending using the FAQs, which I wrote them all. We'll also have alot of links specific for the consulate in GUZ. For the USCIS part of the process, of course it is the same for all consulates and so we often recommend people to VJ as a great source of FAQ info too. Probably our main strength is that we know the consulate in GUZ very well (they are even a member at our site and answer questions sometimes)... but since we get reports back daily on people's experience, we can also follow trends that are going on in interviews and how best to prepare for that (ie: there is an FAQ on preparing for the interview and one which has interview questions from the last few years)... Quote
woliveri Posted April 11, 2008 at 10:55 PM Report Posted April 11, 2008 at 10:55 PM yes, CFL definately has strengths but I found it quite frustrating at times looking for basic information and have looked at the FAQ's many times but unfortunately never found the information I was seeking which is why now I use all three sites I posted. I was able to post and receive information on the validity of translations done in China and that was helpful and eased my worry. Thanks for all your hard work. Quote

My fiancee's interview is Monday, April 14th. We are all nervous, but hoping for the best.....Mark Quote
ipsi() Posted April 15, 2008 at 06:16 AM Report Posted April 15, 2008 at 06:16 AM For those of you in New Zealand, either go yourself or send your partner to http://www.skykiwi.com/bbs/index.php, which is a Forum system run by Chinese people in New Zealand. One of the forums is dedicated to Immigration, I believe, but I couldn't tell you which one I'm afraid. EDIT: Watch out for the annoying music and other scripting stuff. I recommend Firefox + Noscript + Adblock+ for this site... Quote
