yonitabonita Posted February 21, 2007 at 04:57 AM Report Posted February 21, 2007 at 04:57 AM Hi there I'm wanting to enrol in the BNU's Spring Semester 2007. It's very late, but I thought I'd give it a try. I can't find anyone to talk to since no one seems to be picking up the phone or answering emails. Anyone had any experience trying to do the same thing? Thanks in advance for advice. Y Quote
FyKnight Posted February 21, 2007 at 11:22 AM Report Posted February 21, 2007 at 11:22 AM I've been trying to ring them since the 6th of February. No answer so they must be holidays I guess. I hadn't realised that the winter academic holidays were prettty much all of February. I tried this morning too as there were posts suggesting people might start coming back by now. The first few times I tried there was a recorded message saying (I think) when they would be back, but my Mandarin isn't good enough to understand it, and by the time I thought to record it and play it back slowly, the message was no longer there. Oh and I've emailed them as well of course. No response yet. I'm going to try again next week as they should definitely be back by then. (I only want to do a short course, not a whole semester, so the timing is a little less dire for me...) Quote
adrianlondon Posted February 21, 2007 at 01:04 PM Report Posted February 21, 2007 at 01:04 PM They're almost totally shut over the Chinese NY. The registrations office probably doesn't open until the beginning of March (check their website - it should state dates there somewhere). The chances of them accepting a late registration are very close to zero, unless ... you apply really late, probably in person, such as on the first day of class. They should know if any students have paid deposits but not turned up (some must do that, I guess, but if BNU are smart they'll be like airlines who already factor in some no-shows). Quote
yong27 Posted February 27, 2007 at 02:44 PM Report Posted February 27, 2007 at 02:44 PM I'm in the same boat - trying to switch unis at the very last minute. I guess it was naive of me to assume they would be able to accept me... When is their first day of class? Would it be 5 March? Quote
yonitabonita Posted March 2, 2007 at 07:06 AM Author Report Posted March 2, 2007 at 07:06 AM I've called and spoken to someone in the foreign students office. They said it was absolutely not possible for late enrolments, but they'll welcome enrolments for September. She was very emphatic about this - it might be worth another shot in person once the chaos of enrolments die down, but right now, it seems like 'no way' is the official response. Hope this helps y Quote
