sebhk Posted February 21, 2007 at 05:53 PM Report Posted February 21, 2007 at 05:53 PM Hi, can anyone recommend some really good, modern Chinese comedies? I would like to find some movies or TV shows that: 1.) Are not made in Hong Kong. (Because the Putonghua dubbing is usually terrible). 2.) Do not contain any tragedy or pointless deaths. 3.) Do not contain any gory scenes (like someone chopping off a hand "by accident") 4.) Have a plot that deals with modern life. (I.e. no stories about ancient China) Thanks! Quote
roddy Posted February 22, 2007 at 02:53 AM Report Posted February 22, 2007 at 02:53 AM Try 有话好好说 (Keep Cool) by Zhang Yimou if you can find it. Then again, the Chinese isn't the clearest if that's what you are looking for. Jiang Wen does stutter, so you get lots of chances to understand. There's also some threatened hand chopping, but it never actually happens. Quote
againstwind Posted February 22, 2007 at 05:10 AM Report Posted February 22, 2007 at 05:10 AM And Feng Xiaogang's movies, especially Big Shot's Funeral (大腕), many peoples have recommended it. And Feng's other movies, like The Dream Factory (甲方乙方),Be There or Be Square(不见不散) and Sorry Baby(没完没了) . And Ning Hao's Crazy Stone, but their Chinese is not very standard, for some of them speak dialects. Quote
