Shadowdh Posted February 27, 2007 at 11:00 PM Report Posted February 27, 2007 at 11:00 PM An opportunity has been handed to me to go to China to study for a year, this is something that was totally unexpected but oh so very welcome. The most unexpected bit was that my wife has been very understanding and after much discussion has made sure I can go. (we have 2 kids so its a big deal really)... I cant wait to go, I have picked 3 Universities and will get one of them, Beida, Foreign affairs college and Beishida (in that order)... I really, really cant wait to get back to China but will miss my family alot. But the opportunity is just too good to pass up. So Beijing here I come... Quote
FyKnight Posted February 27, 2007 at 11:50 PM Report Posted February 27, 2007 at 11:50 PM Wow, that's great news shadowdh! Congratulations! When will you arrive in China? Quote
Shadowdh Posted February 28, 2007 at 12:04 AM Author Report Posted February 28, 2007 at 12:04 AM Thanks... I will hopefully be flying out of the UK on 26 Aug 07 and arrive in Beijing on 27 Aug 07... thats a guess at the moment though as I need to find out all the details (like which Uni I get to go to for example) also I am going to apply for a 2 year multi entry as I need to go in and out few times in the next year or so... does anyone know how hard it is to get a 2 year visa...??? roddy Posted February 28, 2007 at 01:49 AM Report Posted February 28, 2007 at 01:49 AM Congratulations, sounds like you should have a good year. 2 year multi-entry visas - should be possible if you can get the school to state that's your period of study. However it's unusual and the school may then expect you to do something daft like pay two years tuition at once. Two one-year visas may be a lot simpler in the long run. Quote
Shadowdh Posted February 28, 2007 at 07:45 AM Author Report Posted February 28, 2007 at 07:45 AM Thanks Roddy... cheers for the info on the visa... I dont think I can get the school to give the 2 years as its only a one year thing that I have... the two one year visa idea is probably best... Quote
yunxiao333 Posted February 28, 2007 at 08:15 AM Report Posted February 28, 2007 at 08:15 AM Why not choose BLCU? just curious Quote
Shadowdh Posted February 28, 2007 at 09:38 AM Author Report Posted February 28, 2007 at 09:38 AM I did go to BLCU last summer and it was fantastic but this time I have chosen the way I have under advice from my teacher... based on my interests and goals really... Beida as it is supposed to be very good (although that is from a Chinese stand point so might be more from a regular subject type of thing), Uni of foreign affairs as thats my particular field of interest and who knows it might build some good Guanxi... and the last choice was mine Beishida as I have heard good things about it... also I really need to be in an environment where there are less foreigners and BLCU has loads... adrianlondon Posted February 28, 2007 at 02:40 PM Report Posted February 28, 2007 at 02:40 PM Based on what I went through last Summer ... you'll get a one-year multi-entry visa (assuming you tick the box stating that you want it to be multi-entry). Quote
