mandarinstudent Posted March 10, 2007 at 12:21 AM Report Posted March 10, 2007 at 12:21 AM Around 5 weeks ago I requested transcripts from the 3 universities I attended and asked for information from 10 graduate programs (all in the US). 2 weeks later I received transcripts from one school and information from 1 school. I am still missing 2 schools' transcripts and 9 programs' information. It sems weird that I would receive a couple of items so quickly and the rest still haven't come. What are the chances that they all got lost? How long should I wait before I should be concerned? Anyone else have an experience like this? Quote
elina Posted March 10, 2007 at 12:44 AM Report Posted March 10, 2007 at 12:44 AM What are the chances that they all got lost? From our experiences, nothing has been lost yet, although I have seen some people said their letters/parcels lost during postal transportation on some websites. And are you sure the schools have sent them to you already?Around 5 weeks ago I requested transcripts from the 3 universities I attended and asked for information from 10 graduate programs (all in the US). I cannot understand this sentence very well, do you mean receiving things from US or from the universities in mainland China? Quote
mandarinstudent Posted March 10, 2007 at 12:55 AM Author Report Posted March 10, 2007 at 12:55 AM I cannot understand this sentence very well, do you mean receiving things from US or from the universities in mainland China? I meant that all the universities in question are located in the US and I am in China. Yeah, I know that the schools already sent the transcripts. They sent them over a month ago, but I have only received one out of 3. Seems kind of strange. Quote
elina Posted March 10, 2007 at 01:04 AM Report Posted March 10, 2007 at 01:04 AM Then I think it’s still within reasonable time period. For example, we have received things from US in 4-6 weeks, and not including public holidays both in China and in US. Quote
jak__ Posted March 10, 2007 at 02:02 AM Report Posted March 10, 2007 at 02:02 AM One of my acceptance letters from a US school never made it to me in China, and i didn't find out until i called them up, so its very possible. Quote

Wow. Does this happen often concerning correspondence with American schools? Quote
jak__ Posted March 10, 2007 at 04:53 AM Report Posted March 10, 2007 at 04:53 AM I don't know, I applied to 5 schools and only got into the one. I think the rejections were all sent by email, so I got them no problem. Quote
Lu Posted March 11, 2007 at 08:20 AM Report Posted March 11, 2007 at 08:20 AM My classmates and I frequently missed mail, from parcels to letters, so it's entirely possible that your mail is lost. You can wait a bit longer, or ask them to send it again. Quote
mandarinstudent Posted March 12, 2007 at 12:36 AM Author Report Posted March 12, 2007 at 12:36 AM Damn, I was hoping not to hear that. I had to pay for those transcripts... Quote
Lu Posted March 13, 2007 at 04:29 AM Report Posted March 13, 2007 at 04:29 AM Ow, that sucks. Maybe you can call them or email them to ask when they sent it? It's possible that they just haven't sent it yet. Quote
mandarinstudent Posted March 13, 2007 at 04:50 AM Author Report Posted March 13, 2007 at 04:50 AM I already have confirmation that they sent them, one on Feb 6th and the other on Feb 7th. Oh well, looks like I have to order more. Quote
