bagz007 Posted March 16, 2007 at 02:14 AM Report Posted March 16, 2007 at 02:14 AM After dealing with some recent reading woes, I got the amazing idea of compiling a list of single character action verbs...not just common ones like 跑, 打, 吃, but stuff like 挟, 眯, 掖 Has anyone done this here already? If not, how about dumping some on this thread? I'll start adding some tomorrow... Quote
roddy Posted March 16, 2007 at 02:35 AM Report Posted March 16, 2007 at 02:35 AM Attached. Caveats: This is a lists of words I have in the HSK lists which are a) single characters and B) tagged as verbs The part of speech tagging (and the attached English) was generated automatically by Adsotrans some time ago - so it's only as good as the HSK lists are, and as Adsotrans X number of years ago. I wouldn't take it as gospel, but maybe something to start building your own list out of. Roddy Edit: Just noticed you were looking specifically for action verbs. one character verbs.txt Quote
trevelyan Posted March 16, 2007 at 04:12 PM Report Posted March 16, 2007 at 04:12 PM If you wanted to download the SQLite database you could extract the list of verbs quite easily with a command like SELECT * from expanded_unified where FLAG REGEXP "VERB". Then print out only the ones of a certain length: http://www.adsotate.com/textbook/?q=node/732 Probably give you similar results to what Roddy has. And there's the same issue in having no fine-grained distinction between verb forms yet. But if you wanted to take a first stab at it, we could update the database with that information though. Quote
bagz007 Posted March 17, 2007 at 01:57 AM Author Report Posted March 17, 2007 at 01:57 AM Thanks much, guys! Roddy, I've got the list. Travelyan, I will try what you're talking about. Will also post my own list, here, once it reaches a significant/helpful size. Quote

I've been doing a lot of research, and the number of verbs is currently just over 100. 汗 Stay tuned! Quote
