geek_frappa Posted March 31, 2004 at 03:23 AM Report Posted March 31, 2004 at 03:23 AM 到此一游 what kind of impression does this phrase give people when you say it? do people look at you like you are bragging? or is it just a passing phrase like 'been there done that'? Quote
39degN Posted March 31, 2004 at 02:39 PM Report Posted March 31, 2004 at 02:39 PM HAHA, it reaminds me that on the walls of some famous scenic spots always have these words: xxx到此一游 annoying, isnt it? basically it's not spoken mandarin, also it gives a negative impression. so my advise is, do not use it. Ian_Lee Posted April 1, 2004 at 06:39 PM Report Posted April 1, 2004 at 06:39 PM If this phrase is used in Taiwan or Hong Kong, it should be 到此一遊 instead of 到此一游. Traditional script has very clear demarcation between 游 and 遊 遊 -- To play, to travel 游 -- To swim If you write 到此一游 in Hong Kong, probably the readers think you swam there Quote
