Long Pan Posted April 9, 2007 at 01:46 PM Report Share Posted April 9, 2007 at 01:46 PM Maybe someone can help me; I have no problem reading most of Chinese web pages, except some of them like for instance this one (trekking site) which appears that way (see scree copy below). Any option I should select on my Internet Explorer ? Thanks
roddy Posted April 9, 2007 at 02:17 PM Report Share Posted April 9, 2007 at 02:17 PM Can't remember the exact sequence on IE, but on Firefox it's View > Character Encoding > GB2312. They've incorrectly set the coding there to BIG5, which is for the traditional character set, so your browser gets confused. Generally speaking if that happens you can fix it by manually setting either BIG5, GB2312 or UTF-8. I notice your OS and browser seem to be in some strange foreign language too. I'm afraid I have no idea how to fix that
Long Pan Posted April 9, 2007 at 02:25 PM Author Report Share Posted April 9, 2007 at 02:25 PM Thanks Roddy; it was in fact very simple "view" -> " encoding" -> "automatic selection" for IE (in fact "Affichage" --> "Codage" --> "Sélection automatique" on my French IE - not so strange foreign langage ) By the way, this web site is said to be a pretty good trekking site.
