售货员 = salesperson. 营业员=clerk, could be a cashier. But I don't know people really make that distinction.

My thought is that a salesperson is the person that is knowledgeable about the products in their area (such as shoes, men's clothing, women's clothing, electronics, etc) and found at a department store while a cashier/clerk is more often found at a supermarket and is the person people give money to in order to pay for their items.
