Guest JessJackson Posted April 2, 2004 at 07:44 AM Report Posted April 2, 2004 at 07:44 AM Could anyone translate "In memory of my Brother" for me. I lost my brother two years ago and would like this as a tatoo. Quote
skylee Posted April 2, 2004 at 08:44 AM Report Posted April 2, 2004 at 08:44 AM Although personally I don't think this is a good idea, you could consider the following - 紀念吾兄 (for elder brother) OR紀念吾弟 (for younger brother) Others might have better suggestions. Quote
39degN Posted April 2, 2004 at 09:26 AM Report Posted April 2, 2004 at 09:26 AM how about 怀念吾兄 the particular transaltion depends on where would you use it. pls offer more background if you dont mind. Quote
ananda Posted April 2, 2004 at 09:58 AM Report Posted April 2, 2004 at 09:58 AM Well, I think 殇(shang1) is suitable, not too much words and could just express the meaning and your feeling. It means 'death of the young', meanwhile people could 'feel' your 'deep sorrow' under the word when they saw it. Quote
skylee Posted April 2, 2004 at 10:17 AM Report Posted April 2, 2004 at 10:17 AM Sorry but I don't agree with the use of 殤. This is a heavy word, and implies deep grief. Use it only if you mean to express such feelings. If you mean that you remember the good times you had with your brother, don't use it. Quote
hparade Posted April 2, 2004 at 08:16 PM Report Posted April 2, 2004 at 08:16 PM i tend to like 懷念, sorrow but warm........ Quote
