Lucas Posted April 25, 2007 at 09:25 AM Report Posted April 25, 2007 at 09:25 AM I'm wondering if somebody could help me please with a translation to mandarin of the word "revered"? Apparently the characters below have the meaning of "revere": 敬畏 "jing wei" But I would like to know "revered", as in the person the symbol is referring to is revered. (regarded with respect tinged with awe) Thanks in advance for your help! Lucas Quote
Lucas Posted April 26, 2007 at 11:28 AM Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 at 11:28 AM Ok, so far I have found this: 被敬畏 Is anyone able to confirm to me that it has the meaning of "revered", as described in the previous post? Thanks! Quote
Lucas Posted April 26, 2007 at 11:32 AM Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 at 11:32 AM ...or is this one correct? 尊敬 Thanks Quote
Lu Posted April 27, 2007 at 03:13 PM Report Posted April 27, 2007 at 03:13 PM 尊敬: verb/noun, meaning respect or to respect. 被敬畏: 被 makes something passive. 敬畏 is to revere, 被敬畏 is to be revered (by). You can translate 'revered' as 被敬畏的(人). But maybe a native speaker can come up with something better. Quote
