koreth Posted May 2, 2007 at 01:44 AM Report Posted May 2, 2007 at 01:44 AM What's the accepted number for Dalian's population? I'm going there to study this summer and when people ask me about it, I'd like to be able to tell them, "It's a city of X million people." But X seems hard to pin down -- searching around on the web I see numbers ranging from 2.8 million to 6.4 million. A pretty big range! Quote
roddy Posted May 2, 2007 at 03:41 AM Report Posted May 2, 2007 at 03:41 AM Dalian city proper will be the smaller figure. Including surrounding counties and cities which fall within its administrative boundaries will be the larger one. Quote
heymister Posted May 2, 2007 at 01:29 PM Report Posted May 2, 2007 at 01:29 PM Roddy is correct. I am recently arrived to Dalian. I was surprised to discover how absolutely huge the place is. However, that hugeness is comprised of the various outlying areas, not just the city proper. The whole Dalian administrative area has over 6 million people. Where will you be studying? Quote
