How should I go about learning to read fluently in chinese?

Ok, I was born in china, came here at age seven, and basically didnt study chinese serioiusly after that.

I feel like a lame un-asian geek so I think it would be better to be a lame slightly asian geek. I don't care much about writing, as of now. i just would like to read fluently in chinese. (well, and maybe take the chinese SAT II? I can speak chinese fluently but read at about a second grade level in schools in china... so, what should I do? Newspapers are a little hard for me as of now and the baby 3rd grade textbooks are just a little to... boring and childish and uninteresting. wikipedia's chinese textbook is for complete beginners. que me aconsejas?
