Learning Chinese in Penang-Malaysia

Hi,

I am currently doing my masters (computer science) in Malaysia but plan to do my PHD in China (mainly because of my interest in China and its culture).

I want to learn chinese and I have tried many of these available courses (Pimsleur, ...) without much success. I thaught a class may help me to start learning.

I wanted to see if anyone is aware of a school (relatively cheap one) in Penang?
