HendrikLohuis Posted May 9, 2007 at 12:27 PM Report Posted May 9, 2007 at 12:27 PM Dear all, I've posted previously about the Interactions/Connections series by Indiana University Press, which I intend to use. The other book that has drawn my interest is Colloquial Chinese by T'ung and Pollard (the older edition, not the newer edition by Qian). See: http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0415018609/ref=s9_asin_title_1-2288_g1/002-2635656-6888847?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=084JF9CF3CDYM7QWM250&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=265623401&pf_rd_i=507846 The book by T'ung and Pollard is written in pinyin but there is a supplement which gives the characters, which also can be ordered by Amazon or can be found in any well-stocked university library. See: http://www.amazon.com/Character-Text-Pollard-Colloquial-Chinese/dp/0950857203/ref=pd_sim_b_1/002-2635656-6888847 However, while this book seems to be far more thorough then the newer version by Qian it doesn't have answers to the exercises. Personally I always like to check my progress so is there anyone who has used these books and has transcripts of the answers or knows where to find them? Of course I'll post anything I might come accross in the future, because this book seems to be an excellent learning resource even though it is somewhat outdated. Kind regards, Hendrik Lohuis Quote
