imron Posted May 10, 2007 at 10:40 AM Report Posted May 10, 2007 at 10:40 AM Anyone else having trouble accessing www.danwei.org? Currently it's only loading for me through a proxy. Quote
roddy Posted May 10, 2007 at 10:43 AM Report Posted May 10, 2007 at 10:43 AM Hmmm, so it is. Have dropped them a line . . . Quote
zhwj Posted May 10, 2007 at 11:13 AM Report Posted May 10, 2007 at 11:13 AM Didn't notice anything myself until 4 this afternoon, several hours after posting the external links (including the one on the Tibet story), and the 2pm blog post on authors went through no problem. It seems to be an IP block rather than a domain filter - the host backend doesn't work and none of the other websites hosted there are accessible. Don't know if it's them or us or what to do if it is us. I tweaked a bit of the language on some of the posts, but I don't know what that'll do if it's not a keyword-based block. Will update if we learn anything or if it clears up. Most likely it's just one of those random things that happen from time to time (or so we hope). Update: We're migrating to a new server that has an unblocked IP, so things should be back to normal in a bit. Still no idea why it happened. Quote
zhwj Posted May 11, 2007 at 06:29 PM Report Posted May 11, 2007 at 06:29 PM I'm adding this as a new comment to bump this up - we've migrated to a new server, so things should be back to normal - at least, I have no problem reaching danwei.org via Beijing Netcome right now. Please drop a note if you still have problems reaching the site. Quote

roddy Posted July 7, 2009 at 03:13 PM Report Posted July 7, 2009 at 03:13 PM Bumping this as Danwei has unfortunately been blocked again, a few days ago. This has not been a good Internet week. Quote
adrianlondon Posted July 7, 2009 at 03:18 PM Report Posted July 7, 2009 at 03:18 PM Not surprising. In order to prove that their version of the news is correct, the PRC government likes to ensure you don't read all the lies out there in the real world. Quote
zhwj Posted July 8, 2009 at 03:07 AM Report Posted July 8, 2009 at 03:07 AM Danwei (sans images) is readable on Douban. The site says it's taking the feed from Feedburner, but I was under the impression that Feedburner was blocked, too. Anyway, it's still available in a slightly inconvenient form. The Feedsky feed is working too, through the magic of a server bounce. Quote
