"Check In" and "Check Out"

Hello,

I was just wondering how one uses the terms "check in" and "check out", for example,

(a) How long before my flight do I need to check in?; and

(B) What time do I need to check out of my hotel?

But be aware that check-in for a plane 登机 (dēngjī), is different from check-in for a hotel 登记 (dēngjì)

And 退房 doesn't necessarily mean check-out - it can just mean vacate your room (eg to move to another room). A hotel I was at insisted that if I changed rooms after the designated 退房 time, I'd have to pay half a day's extra rent, even though I was just moving across the corridor

I'd call that 换房 though, or 让房. 退房 implies you are leaving.

Check in gate: 登机口

Behind Schedule: 晚点

check tickets: 检票

Stewardess: 空姐

The plane is crashing!: 我们飞机要坠毁了！
