venture160 Posted May 22, 2007 at 09:25 PM Report Posted May 22, 2007 at 09:25 PM Anyone know what this means? I am reading a social sciences article in Chinese talkinbg about 结构性紧张 and it refers to the Chinese social structure as “倒T字型” Anyone? Quote
zhwj Posted May 22, 2007 at 10:32 PM Report Posted May 22, 2007 at 10:32 PM Upside-down "T" (also 倒丁字型) - a straight line from a small minority of elite to the vast masses. Compare to a pyramid, (金字塔形), where there's a middle-class, or an olive-shaped structure with the middle class as the majority. Quote
venture160 Posted May 23, 2007 at 12:59 AM Author Report Posted May 23, 2007 at 12:59 AM Thanks a ton! I should have figured that out as they refer to 金字塔形 in the next paragraph. I am reading 当代中国“官”“黑”之间的政治保护关系 Its blocked in China but an interesting read if you can use a proxy. Quote
