Recommend city to retire and study chinese culture

Hi,

I am planning on an early retirement soon. Am looking for a city in China to retire, study the chinese language and culture. If possible, to volunteer as an English teacher as well.

I would like to learn chinese calligraphy, taiji, play a chinese musical instrument and improve on my mandarin.

I am looking for a more laid-back place that is close to the mountain.

Any recommendations ?
