jpmarkka Posted June 1, 2007 at 12:21 PM Report Posted June 1, 2007 at 12:21 PM This day I got again a question about hairstyles in China. I´ve been wondering (again) does it matter nowadays what kind of a hairstyle you got? I have myself thought to get that queue hairstyle which was forced to China at Qinq-dynasty by Manchus. I think it is kinda cool hairstyle, but the thing I was thinking is that because I am going to China next year I wanted to ask would it be abusive to wear the queue hairstyle in China especially when I´m foreigner? (I don´t know is it infamous nowadays and that´s why I want to be sure about it that if I wear it it won´t be abusive against Chinese people.) And are there other hairstyles that could maybe be even nowadays infamous? Quote
Yang Rui Posted June 2, 2007 at 09:30 AM Report Posted June 2, 2007 at 09:30 AM I don't think it would be offensive for you to have a queue, but i do think it would be seen as absolutely ridiculous. The hairstyle is never seen except for in period dramas on TV, and if you came to China with a queue I think you would be stared at and ridiculed wherever you went and would never have a moment's peace.
