Shadowdh Posted June 5, 2007 at 06:44 AM Report Posted June 5, 2007 at 06:44 AM Hi all, I am playing around with my laptop as I use more and more Chinese to communicate with people (not that it makes any sense or is right but its still worth the practice ) and I have installed a couple of new IMEs (google which I like and seems good so far, sogou which I have not as yet played with as I have only just done the bits that I apparently need to do to get it to work) and I was wondering which IME people consider best and why?? roddy Posted June 5, 2007 at 06:51 AM Report Posted June 5, 2007 at 06:51 AM I used Microsoft's for a long time, just by default. Then installed Sogou after seeing it mentioned on here and loved it. I don't use any of the advanced features, but just the fact that it updates with new vocab regularly and can therefore make typing things like the name of recent films, people in the news, etc, a lot easier is great. Google I've never tried due to being happy with Sogou, but if someone told me it was better for some reason I'd give it a shot. Quote
Shadowdh Posted June 5, 2007 at 07:11 AM Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 at 07:11 AM Thanks Roddy, Just got sugou working and it seems really nice, can type in whole sentences and no problems regarding wrong characters... surprising how much like google it is eh?! Quote
gato Posted June 5, 2007 at 07:12 AM Report Posted June 5, 2007 at 07:12 AM I use Pinyin Jia Jia because it remembers the new vocabs that you type, and it works well using the double pinyin entry mode. For more info on double pinyin: http://www.chinese-forums.com/showthread.php?p=104454#post104454 Double pinyin (双拼) Quote
Xiao Kui Posted June 5, 2007 at 08:49 AM Report Posted June 5, 2007 at 08:49 AM Just got sugou working and it seems really nice, can type in whole sentences and no problems regarding wrong characters... surprising how much like google it is eh? Yes, actually Google ripped off Sohu, which was discussed in another thread, you can read more abt it here. Looks like "The Departed" has started a bad trend - first Hollywood, then Google, who will be unoriginal next.? Quote
adrianlondon Posted June 5, 2007 at 09:00 AM Report Posted June 5, 2007 at 09:00 AM I tried the Google IME but on my laptop (which has a slow hard disk) it took ages to load up each time I wanted it. Is the Sogou one as slow? Quote
roddy Posted June 5, 2007 at 09:22 AM Report Posted June 5, 2007 at 09:22 AM Never used Google's, but certainly haven't had any complaints with the speed of Sogou - never even really considered loading time as an issue. Quote
Shadowdh Posted June 5, 2007 at 04:01 PM Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 at 04:01 PM Adrian... I havent had a problem with either IME... but sugou seems to work really well... quick and stuff... Quote
atitarev Posted June 6, 2007 at 02:02 AM Report Posted June 6, 2007 at 02:02 AM What's the best Chinese IME on a Pocket PC? I use CE-Star. Quote
Etwood Posted June 6, 2007 at 06:35 AM Report Posted June 6, 2007 at 06:35 AM I originally used the Microsoft IME, but since reading this thread, I've downloaded both the Google one and the Sogou one, and I find both really good. I just wanted to ask though, what has happened to NJStar IME? Are there still people that prefer this IME to the aforementioned ones? If so, why? I'm just interested to see, because I used to use NJStar, and I thought it was quite good. It also had the option of inputting characters using Cantonese Romanisation, didn't it? Quote
atitarev Posted June 6, 2007 at 08:34 AM Report Posted June 6, 2007 at 08:34 AM I use NJStar sometimes, I can't complain about it. In fact, if you need an input tool + a dictionary in one at no cost, NJStar IME + Word Processor. Quote
Wen Xing Posted November 13, 2010 at 01:35 PM Report Posted November 13, 2010 at 01:35 PM hi, How about Ziguang Pinyin (紫光华宇拼音输入法), QQ pinyin (QQ拼音输入法) and Pinyin Jiajia (拼音加加输入法) ? I had used Ziguang Pinyin, QQ pinyin, and recently sogou pinyin. Ziguang Pinyin and QQ pinyin are almost same, except ziguang has more specialized dictionary database. Currently I use sogou because it has hand writting input extension and of course has almost all features that ziguang has too. For Pinyin Jiajia, I never use it. Is there anyone else want to share the usage of Ziguang Pinyin, QQ pinyin and Pinyin Jiajia? Quote
