pandaxiongmao Posted June 12, 2007 at 05:52 AM Report Posted June 12, 2007 at 05:52 AM Not sure if this was mentioned before on Apple's pages, but WWDC started, and they revised their 10.5 pages. A big feature to look forward to for learners of Chinese: From:http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/features/accessibility.html Alex: The new voice of the Mac. The new synthesized English voice in Leopard, Alex, uses advanced Apple technologies that deliver natural intonation even at very fast speaking rates. Alex works with any application that supports Apple speech synthesis. VoiceOver also includes support for two-byte languages such as Japanese and Chinese. Before the Mac's spoken voice only did English, so this is an upgrade that will definitely be worth the $129US cost to me. Quote
Prodigal Son Posted June 12, 2007 at 07:38 AM Report Posted June 12, 2007 at 07:38 AM pretty sweet. 10.5 looks really nice, if my current laptop didn't suit its purpose as well as it does I'd be sweating a macbook pro. Quote
[欧阳江] Posted June 12, 2007 at 01:35 PM Report Posted June 12, 2007 at 01:35 PM Cool, nice feature! Phonetically, Chinese is quite a slim language so I guess it should sound pretty accurate. Quote
ciaocibai Posted June 20, 2007 at 12:46 PM Report Posted June 20, 2007 at 12:46 PM Yeah, great news. I wonder when I can get a 'trial' version... Anyway, planning on upgrading my MacBook later this year anyway, maybe I should just wait until October. Thanks for sharing. Quote
