zack217 Posted June 15, 2007 at 05:58 PM Report Share Posted June 15, 2007 at 05:58 PM Dear all! My father has a chance to visit your nice country in next month . This is the schedule: Hanoi - 南宁(Nánníng) - 苏 (Sūzhōu) - 杭州(Hángzhōu) - 北京(Běijīng) - 上海(Shànghǎi). The avarage price of laptop with common configuration, Window XP runable, Intel chipset..., for office appliances, filming & internet... in my country isn's so high - about 600 to above US$1000, but it's still over my pocket . This time, I wanna buy a brandnew laptop in your country, because I heard that your price is lower , and when my father bring it back to my country, we don't have to pay for tax. Would you give me information that help me done my desire , at least some links for me to self_research Btw, please give me some recommendations about those places in my schedule. Thanks for all and very best reagards, Your neighbour.
trien27 Posted June 17, 2007 at 06:09 PM Report Share Posted June 17, 2007 at 06:09 PM Hanoi is Henei in pinyin: he* = river, nei = inside. 苏 (Sūzhōu?) & 杭州(Hángzhōu) It should be 苏州 (Sūzhōu) and 杭州 (Hángzhōu) which Chinese people contracted to "苏杭"(sūháng). 苏(sū) is a surname. This character is only used as a contraction of Suzhou in 苏杭. Otherwise there's no other definition. By definition, pinyin should not be capitalized, unless it's a formal name. *This is not the English word he, as in he, she, & it. But a Chinese pronounciation. bdrules Posted June 17, 2007 at 08:18 PM Report Share Posted June 17, 2007 at 08:18 PM When I was in China last year (Shanghai and Beijing) I found that the prices were actually noticeably higher than here in the US. In fact, one of my Chinese friends who went back to visit this year, bought two laptops in the US to take back for his friends who wanted them in China, because the price was so much cheaper in the US. Maybe it is different compared to Vietnam, but I thought laptops in China were pretty expensive.
gato Posted June 17, 2007 at 11:54 PM Report Share Posted June 17, 2007 at 11:54 PM If you or your dad can read Chinese, you can do some research on zol.com.cn (Zhongguancun Online). http://detail.zol.com.cn/price_search.php?subcatid=16&manuid=218&price_range=
HashiriKata Posted June 25, 2007 at 08:45 AM Report Share Posted June 25, 2007 at 08:45 AM zack217, Unless your father is a computer expert and knows the language and the country very well, it's not certain that he'll get what you want at a genuinely low price. He should be very careful in this, as once he leaves China and discovers something wrong with the computer he bought, there'll be no coming back.
