yonitabonita Posted June 25, 2007 at 03:27 AM Report Posted June 25, 2007 at 03:27 AM Hi folks As users of the Beijing subway would have noticed, beggars with microphone and amplifyers are a regular scene. To my ears at least, it seems that they all sing the same song. Is this the case? And if so, what is it? and is there some sort of cultural context behind the song/s? What are they singing about? I've been wondering this for about a year! thanks, Y Quote
cui ruide Posted June 25, 2007 at 03:36 AM Report Posted June 25, 2007 at 03:36 AM The only troubadour I heard on the subway in Beijing was singing "Laoshu ai dami" (like a mouse loves rice; a simile describing how much the singer loves 'you')---a ridiculously popular song. Quote
zhwj Posted June 25, 2007 at 06:27 AM Report Posted June 25, 2007 at 06:27 AM One song that a lot of them tend to sing is 离家的孩子 (A Child Away from Home) that talks about the hard life of someone wandering alone. Quote
