imron Posted June 28, 2007 at 12:51 PM Report Posted June 28, 2007 at 12:51 PM Perhaps you'd like to comment about why you think it's amazing, or at least provide a small background about the photographers etc. Quote
david1978 Posted June 28, 2007 at 01:34 PM Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 at 01:34 PM There is quite a range of different artists there. My personal favorites are JIANG ZHEN QING, LI LANG and YANG YAN KANG because I love raw documentary photography, especially of the neglected parts of China. Speaking in general I think it's always fascinating to note how culture both shapes, and is shaped, by the larger socioeconomic and political reality. And in China, specifically, the massive, speedy, and sweeping changes that are taking place have spurred an artistic response that is highly critical of the situation. For this, I am at awe with the contemporary Chinese visual artists. Quote

HashiriKata Posted June 28, 2007 at 01:39 PM Report Posted June 28, 2007 at 01:39 PM I've just had a brief look and from the photographic point of view, the works by YANG YAN KANG are outstanding. If you don't have time to view all, I recommend to view just YANG YAN KANG ! Quote

Senzhi Posted June 28, 2007 at 02:22 PM Report Posted June 28, 2007 at 02:22 PM I had a quick look at it, and I must say that they all are candy for the eye. I'll definitely have a deeper look into the techniques used by them. Quote

againstwind Posted June 28, 2007 at 02:37 PM Report Posted June 28, 2007 at 02:37 PM I saw Xu Yong's works at 798 factory area this May Day holiday. That naked lady is a real prostitute. I remember there was her short autobiography written by herself on the wall of the gallery. And in my impression, she said that she collaborated on those photos with Xu Yong in order to show her indignation at men's hypocrisy. Quote
