gato Posted July 1, 2007 at 02:20 AM Report Posted July 1, 2007 at 02:20 AM See attached for a list of legal terms in Chinese and English that should be helpful. BLCU publishes some business Chinese books that may also be helpful to someone in law. I don't think there are books designed for lawyers yet on the market. The market is probably too small to be economical. However, depending on your level of Chinese, you might consider the legal translation books I've recommended before on this forum. They are designed for Chinese who are translating from English to Chinese, but I think they are generally quite helpful for learning the standard phrases used in formal Chinese, which is quite different from spoken Chinese. Here is a site with a number of Chinese laws and regulations, as well as contracts, in bilingual form: http://www.profanyi.com/news.asp?sub_id=11&type=2 You just need to practice with the format. Once you have read a few Chinese statutes, it'll be easier. English-Chinese Legal Terms.DOC Quote
