seeds Posted July 3, 2007 at 07:15 PM Report Posted July 3, 2007 at 07:15 PM 'ello, 'ello - dajia hao: i'm a new person to the forum, and a relative newbie to chinese (i started studying last september, but my uni in london only gave us 5 hours chinese a week, so that and being a bear of not a million braincells means i is qwitecwap) i arrive in beijing next week to do the blcu summer school - the tres posh seeming foreign student place seems very expensive, especially if you think of the wages the staff get paid, and i'd much rather live somewhere normal, and not be seduced into chatting to loadsa foreign students (lovely though i'm sure they are, but they're not gonna help me much with my chinese) my chinese is probably not up to trawling thru' the classifieds - is there any good (physical) places around the wu - or anywhere else near transport to go and find short lets? or has anyone got any good advice? any help v.v.v.v.v.v. gratefully received, and could be easily persuaded to bring out real coffee/marmite/chocolate/twiglets or whatever for first 3 people to reply ;-) jyc, aka seeds Quote

ChineseSpeaker Posted July 4, 2007 at 03:43 AM Report Posted July 4, 2007 at 03:43 AM You may rent a house outside of the campus. But you'd better have a Chinese friend to help rent a house for you, in case anyone charge you too much money. Quote
imron Posted July 4, 2007 at 03:52 AM Report Posted July 4, 2007 at 03:52 AM Seeds, your post was moved to a new thread because the "Your accommodation in China" thread is for people to post details of their existing accommodation, so other readers can get a rough idea about the prices and conditions they can expect in different cities/locations. It's not a place to request help finding accommodation. By moving your post to its own thread, it will actually increase the chance of it being read/answered, compared to posting it off-topic somewhere else. You are more than welcome to send me an email if you wish to discuss moderation policy further. In the meantime, you might also be interested in reading these threads which will give you some idea about the accommodation available in and around Wudaokou: http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/63-taiwanese-writer-san-mao26 http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/15-cctv-learn-chinese992 Once you've moved to Beijing and found a place, please feel free to return to the accommodation thread and post the details of your accommodation there.
