Huang Jialuo Posted July 9, 2007 at 03:55 AM Report Posted July 9, 2007 at 03:55 AM Hi everyone. I wanted to ask anyone who is willing to help to please help me get info of a particular city in province in China called Fujian. The city's name is Zhangzhou. You see: my friend entered a Chinese seminar because he wanted to learn more about China, which is actually great... (I love Chinese culture... guess that makes me biased) and part of this seminar is doing a big essay about a place in China which he was forced to choose (Zhangzhou,Fujian). I know it is a lack of organization on his behalf, but he is currently under a lot of stress (final exams) and he has to make this essay to hand in TOMORROW. So you can understand his stress, and maybe some of you can personally relate to it (I know I can ) Basically his essay is about: The economy of the placeThe trading opportunities of the placeHow the province has been developingWhat is the life like there... to see what the people can produce and what they might need. Please, he would appreciate very much if you could help him today. Thanks. Quote
ChineseSpeaker Posted July 9, 2007 at 04:37 AM Report Posted July 9, 2007 at 04:37 AM I am a native Chinese. As I know, there is no province in China called Zangzhou But there is a province named Guizhou in the South west of China. Quote
rootfool Posted July 9, 2007 at 04:40 AM Report Posted July 9, 2007 at 04:40 AM As I know, there is no province in China called Zangzhou maybe you should write hanzi so we can help you.. Quote
Huang Jialuo Posted July 9, 2007 at 04:46 AM Author Report Posted July 9, 2007 at 04:46 AM Oh, thanks. Forgive my ignorance. I took the assignment given to me by my friend without questioning his reliability. Yes, there is no province called Zhangzhou. He was mistaken... (as many instances before).. and the province's name is Fujian. He says the city is Zhangzhou. Please still help. I'll punch him another day for you both, hehe. Quote
rootfool Posted July 9, 2007 at 05:18 AM Report Posted July 9, 2007 at 05:18 AM is it 漳(zhang)州? Quote
Huang Jialuo Posted July 9, 2007 at 05:26 AM Author Report Posted July 9, 2007 at 05:26 AM This is really embarrassing. Sorry everyone. I have also been looking for this mythical Zangzhou. And I think you are actually correct "rootfool". Please disregard the previously mentioned Zangzhou and instead follow the name Zhangzhou which is in Fujian. I am really sorry for making some of you lose your time with these reprehensible mistakes. Next time a friend asks me for a favor, I will verify most of the data before posting it. Quote
Stefani Posted July 9, 2007 at 05:40 AM Report Posted July 9, 2007 at 05:40 AM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhangzhou For a start. Sorry, my ancestors came from there, but I have never been to China (and I am still a beginner at Chinese). Good luck to your friend! Quote
Huang Jialuo Posted July 9, 2007 at 05:52 AM Author Report Posted July 9, 2007 at 05:52 AM Stefani thanks for your support (though I must say I had looked at Wikipedia already, but had found that there was nothing there that could help my friend's essay. Wikipedia is actually very reliable and resourceful most of the time, but it knows very little about Zhangzhou at the moment). However, by what is said in the brackets, I don't mean to take merit from your quite helpful actions. Not many come to forums like these and help strangers who want to help their sometimes not so reliable friends. So really any contribution at this point is considered a valuable something (though if anyone else could send more info that would be great). Thanks. And I'll tell him you said good luck. He will probably be grateful for the words of support. Quote
