gougou Posted July 12, 2007 at 05:36 AM Report Posted July 12, 2007 at 05:36 AM I am using PowerWord 2007 on a very new laptop (that is to say, everything else is very fast). However, when I hover over a word and press Ctrl (as set in the preferences), it can take up to 10 seconds before the translation shows up. That is with just the two basic dictionaries selected. Does anybody have the same problem? Or ideas what might influence the time? (There is an option about Auto-time delay, or choosing your own time-delay (which, for some reason, can't be 0). When I have it on Auto-time delay, it takes even longer than when I choose 100 milliseconds.) Quote
ABCinChina Posted July 12, 2007 at 05:50 AM Report Posted July 12, 2007 at 05:50 AM Have you tried to set the Cursor Translation Mode to Mouse Over? I think this option works well and I have mines set on 200 MSEL with no problems though I've never tried the other modes. I'm not sure about the auto-time delay, but I have mines checked which works fine. I have no problems over here though on my other computer, Kingsoft will make windows hang when shutting off the computer. I have to always click End Task with Kingsoft on when turning the laptop off... Quote
Tommi Posted July 12, 2007 at 12:25 PM Report Posted July 12, 2007 at 12:25 PM I have the same problem with 2007 edition, using Vista. But neverhad the problem on previous versions so it must be 2007 edition specific. Quote
gato Posted July 12, 2007 at 02:25 PM Report Posted July 12, 2007 at 02:25 PM Maybe you can try StarDict instead. http://stardict.sourceforge.net/Dictionaries_zh_CN.php DrEye4in1词典 Quote
gougou Posted July 13, 2007 at 02:23 PM Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 at 02:23 PM OK, I found the solution. Once you disable Vista's Aero effects, everything works smoothly again. Quote
ABCinChina Posted October 1, 2008 at 05:11 PM Report Posted October 1, 2008 at 05:11 PM For anyone using Powerword 2007 with Windows Vista and notice it very slow, you can always use this patch I found on the Kingsoft forums. This way, you may not need to disable Vista's aero affects from what I understand. You just put the file into the Powerword directory and replace. (I'd backup the file just in case) Windows Vista Patch.rarFetching info... Quote
