Ian_Lee Posted April 13, 2004 at 08:08 PM Report Share Posted April 13, 2004 at 08:08 PM I recently read a report that the most frequent takeout by Americans is from Chinese restaurants. The most popular dish that they order is Broccoli with Beef. I guess the most popular dish in the Chinese restaurants in Japan should be Mapo Tofu. The most popular dish in the Chinese restaurants in Korea seems to be Jajang Myeum. Do any posters have any idea what is the most popular food in the Chinese restaurants in Australia, UK and Germany? Or some other places?
Guest Chan Posted April 13, 2004 at 08:16 PM Report Share Posted April 13, 2004 at 08:16 PM Do any posters have any idea what is the most popular food in the Chinese restaurants in Australia, UK and Germany? Or some other places? Thanks for asking about my country, too Germany: After WWII there were too few men so workers from Italy came to work here. Ice cream got pritty popular After the Italians, Turkish (and some Greek) came to Germany. Till today, 10% of the population are foreigners, most Turkish. So the Turkish "Döner Kebap" is the most common take-away food here! BUT less and less Turkish people come to Germany since in Turkey, the economy is getting better. Very slowly, Chinese people come. But it's slow. Most Germans just know food from rather expensive Chinese restaurants. There are few Asian take-aways. UK: When I was in the UK (London, Manchester), Indian seemed the most popular to me. But for take-away, i saw many Greeks. Some Chinese but not many
