wai ming Posted July 25, 2007 at 06:04 AM Report Posted July 25, 2007 at 06:04 AM I'm going to Hong Kong, and I'm trying to decide whether it's better to buy a digital camera in Hong Kong or in Australia. I'm not looking for anything high-end, just something relatively basic, from a reputable brand. If anyone has any advice on what to look for, where to look for it, prices and warranties, I'd be extremely grateful. Quote
Senzhi Posted July 25, 2007 at 11:03 AM Report Posted July 25, 2007 at 11:03 AM From my experience, reputable brands are in Hong Kong as expensive as anywhere else in the western world (excluding taxes). In addition, you need to consider any technical/customer support/guarantee issues before you make a decision to buy. Quote
gougou Posted July 25, 2007 at 01:24 PM Report Posted July 25, 2007 at 01:24 PM (excluding taxes). But taxes are the reason of buying in HK, no? Quote
Senzhi Posted July 25, 2007 at 02:53 PM Report Posted July 25, 2007 at 02:53 PM Gougou, Well ... yes and no. It all depends a bit on the taxes in your home country as well as import regulations. These thing can differ a lot from country to country, and I can only advise people to compare, compare and compare. Also comparing prices on the net is a good idea. But to be honest, I still buy most of my stuff from the US, especially with the US$ being left way behind by the Euro these days. But also here, I constantly need to check their shipping prices, as well as if they charge me tax or not. Quote
