JasonRox Posted July 29, 2007 at 04:47 PM Report Posted July 29, 2007 at 04:47 PM Where can I find books in Pin Yin writing? I'm good at pronouncing the different sounds and tones, but I'd like to expand my vocabulary and grammar. I have girls teaching me, but I want to learn quicker and do stuff on my own. I don't want to wait until I see them just to expand my vocabulary. Any books available? Even children books would be good. Thanks! Quote
Kristyx Posted July 29, 2007 at 05:09 PM Report Posted July 29, 2007 at 05:09 PM I have a children's edition of 红楼梦 ISBN 9700525643. It's in simplified Chinese with pinyin. Because it's a classic it's full of bookish vocabulary, so probably not the best book to learn from. However, it's in a series called 'A World of Stories in Pinyin' Maybe you could search for that series. Quote
newyorkeric Posted July 29, 2007 at 06:39 PM Report Posted July 29, 2007 at 06:39 PM If you are looking for a textbook, Yong Ho's Beginner's Chinese has both characters and pinyin. It also comes with audio cds. Quote
mscott101 Posted August 1, 2007 at 07:49 PM Report Posted August 1, 2007 at 07:49 PM Check out chinasprout.com. They have a number of books of stories that are in pinyin with simplified characters just below. Usually there is an English translation at the end of the story as well. I use these to practice my reading. It'll probably meet your needs pretty well. Lots of other good stuff at chinasprout.com also. Quote
