Beijing downtown backpackers hostel

Hi I went on hostelworld.com and saw only great reviews about Beijing downtown backpackers, No. 85, Nanluogu Alley, Dongcheng District. At first, I was thinking of enrolling at BLCU but due to a change in circumstances, I am now thinking of coming on a tourist visa, book a room at the above hostel for a week and then look for a chinese language school( Global village?) and then change to a student visa. Seems that this has been done before? Is the above hostel very far from the area where the language schools are concentrated? Thanks Bruce

Hi

Backpackers is a great place and the people there are very helpful. It is not close to most of the schools. It is next to the Central academy of drama but I have no idea what the language course there is like

And not far from BeiShiDa

It is 5 mins walk to the east of HouHai lake near kuan jie. If you have not been to Beijing before then this is a good cheap and clean hostel. They will come and collect you from the airport for free and also provide breakfast. I have just got back to the UK from there last week and I have stayed there many times.

hope this is of some help.

cheers

It's a great location (well, it's in the area I want to live when I go back to Beijing).

Thanks to you all for your replies. I think probably I'm gonna stick to this plan: stay at BDBH and then look for a school. Is Beishida and BNU the same thing?
