Errors in Xinhua dictionary (book edition)

Last Saturday I read in a German newspaper about a Chinese (in Mainland) who is 'fighting' against the - state owned - Xinhua publishing house.

The man - Chen Dingniang - has found 23854 errors (including punctuation errors) in the monolingual Xinhua dictionary (9th edition) - i.e. about 37 errors pro page - wrote the publishing house about it, got a thank you message, but the following 10th edition still has the old errors besides additional 'new' errors.

Chen thinks the publishing house staff suffers the old Chinese mentality of 'one should not try to correct his/her teacher'.

Interesting story. Thanks for sharing.

It is interesting to note that when the publisher ignores what he says, he feels neglected and slighted. If the publisher accepts what he says, he thinks that the fruit of his researches is stolen.
