How to use ' 指出'?

I've come across ' 指出' many times in reading chinese articles. According to google translate, it means 'that'. But does it mean it is a substitute for '那個' and '這個'? I don't think so and so I hope some of you pros can shed some light via simple examples please. Thanks!

Google's wrong, basically. It means 'point out' - take a look at the dict.cn page.

Google seems to pick up the 'indicate', 'point out' meaning if you put in whole sentences, but not if you try to use it as a dictionary and just put in the word alone.

'指出' the accurate meaning is to point out.

example:

请指出我的错误。

Please point out my errors.

'指' verb, is take action to use your finger shoot sth/sb.

'出' verb, out.

When we use two together as a phrase,means point out sth/sb differently.

Advice use Dict.cn or Powerword as online dictionary.
