skylee Posted August 13, 2007 at 02:52 PM Report Posted August 13, 2007 at 02:52 PM I saw 導火綫 (Flash Point) last sunday. It is a typical story about cops (or one cop) trying to catch the bad guys with an undercover buddy thrown in the gangsters. The story is simple. But the fighting scenes are great, although they don't make sense IMHO. The story takes place in pre-1997 HK, which is also the pre-youtube-and-phones-with-camera era, so as to, probably, justify all the fighting in public without everybody learning about it on the internet. I know many members who frequent this website are interested in kungfu. They may enjoy the film greatly for the action part. If they like Donnie Yen, who was also featured in Hero, Seven Swords, etc, they will like the film even more. Yen is not a bad actor. I think he is great in Seven Swords and Hero. There is also Louis Koo. And there is another actor who appeared in Matrix Reloaded and Revolution - Collin Chou. He fights with Yen at the last scene. We girls (I am not the only one) just find the fighting a bit silly. But there is a nice surprise. The last fighting scene takes place at a very beautiful grassland, which I think is some conserved wetland. It's a beautiful place. The film is also shown at this year's Toronto Film Festival.
