Hi

My passport has expired and im currently living in the US. I am preparing to go to the consul in Houston to get a new one since renewals are now outlawed. what do i have to bring to the consul? birth certificate?

PS i am current waiting for my green card. (meaning my status is "waiting for green card" if that changes anything

Thanks so much

I would suggest you take everything you possess. But why are you asking us? Ask the consulate!

Ask the Consulate (or check the website, which sometimes has useful information), that's the best bet!

My wife has had to get a new Chinese passport (side note: passports are not machine washable) in the US. In her case (maybe it was special?), she just had to bring her old passport in, probably fill out an application, and pay a fee... She definitely didn't have her birth certificate with her, and I don't remember her needing to bring any other supporting documents. (I mean, really, the old passport *should* be all that you need, since it's an internationally recognized form of identification...)
