I heard that people in Taiwan often use the inflection 耶. What type of sitations is this inflection uses? What type of emotion/meanng does it convey?

I've heard it used by people in Mainland, too. However, it was mostly from girls. I'm not sure if that's the same situation in Taiwan or not. I guess it can be used when expressing surprise. But I guess it seems too girly if a guy says it.

真的耶!Really!

这首歌很好听耶!This song is really good!

周杰伦好帅耶!Jay Zhou is really handsome!

Thanks, I will keep that in mind, certainly don't want to sound feminine. :) I don't plan to use it myself but I was just curious about what it conveys.

Yeah I hear this a lot in taiwanese series. I love this accent, the girls sound so cute this way. It is similar to 呀 but sounds softer.
