novemberfog Posted August 30, 2007 at 01:58 PM Report Posted August 30, 2007 at 01:58 PM I heard that people in Taiwan often use the inflection 耶. What type of sitations is this inflection uses? What type of emotion/meanng does it convey? Quote
xiaojiang216 Posted August 30, 2007 at 09:32 PM Report Posted August 30, 2007 at 09:32 PM I've heard it used by people in Mainland, too. However, it was mostly from girls. I'm not sure if that's the same situation in Taiwan or not. I guess it can be used when expressing surprise. But I guess it seems too girly if a guy says it. 真的耶!Really! 这首歌很好听耶!This song is really good! 周杰伦好帅耶!Jay Zhou is really handsome! lol Quote
novemberfog Posted August 30, 2007 at 10:28 PM Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 at 10:28 PM Thanks, I will keep that in mind, certainly don't want to sound feminine. I don't plan to use it myself but I was just curious about what it conveys. Quote

naturegirl Posted September 23, 2007 at 05:16 PM Report Posted September 23, 2007 at 05:16 PM Yeah I hear this a lot in taiwanese series. I love this accent, the girls sound so cute this way. It is similar to 呀 but sounds softer. Quote
