anonymoose Posted August 31, 2007 at 01:40 PM Report Posted August 31, 2007 at 01:40 PM It's not bad, but a bit crowded. Quote
md1101 Posted August 31, 2007 at 02:41 PM Report Posted August 31, 2007 at 02:41 PM it has lots of large concrete buildings... and a fairly efficient transport system considering how many people it has. Quote

Loriquero Posted August 31, 2007 at 05:34 PM Report Posted August 31, 2007 at 05:34 PM I have a real questions about mandarin in Shanghai media influence: (radio, television, movies) moves in the mandarin mood? or every media speaks on Shanghainese? Quote
anonymoose Posted September 1, 2007 at 02:32 AM Report Posted September 1, 2007 at 02:32 AM media influence: (radio, television, movies) moves in the mandarin mood? or every media speaks on Shanghainese? Whilst it is possible to find the occasional television programme in Shanghainese, these are very few and far between. I have never heard of a movie in Shanghainese. Quote
charles Posted September 1, 2007 at 03:16 AM Report Posted September 1, 2007 at 03:16 AM every media speaks on Shanghainese? No, most in the mandarin mood. Quote

skylee Posted September 1, 2007 at 03:37 PM Report Posted September 1, 2007 at 03:37 PM I have never heard of a movie in Shanghainese. I've seen one -> 海上花 Flowers of Shanghai PS - It's been years since I saw this film and as far as I can remember it was in Shanghainese (maybe Tony Leung had some lines in Cantonese). Please correct me if I am wrong. Quote
wushijiao Posted September 1, 2007 at 04:09 PM Report Posted September 1, 2007 at 04:09 PM The movie "My Post-modern Aunt/ 姨妈的后现代的生活" had a little bits of Shanghainese (maybe 3-5%). Although it had some interesting scenes, including some pretty good acting, overall, not too great of a movie, in my opinion. http://movie.iamcool.net/tw/moovi_detail.php?movieID=3308 But anyway, the radio broadcasts, TV shows, and TV commercials are all in Putonghua, except for one or two local TV shows.
