Nathan Posted September 2, 2007 at 07:43 AM Report Posted September 2, 2007 at 07:43 AM Being a laowai here in Beijing definitely has it's ups and downs... mostly ups to be honest. But one of the downs is the condoms they have here in China. Guys, you know what I'm talking about. The things are just too damn small! I bought a Chinese brand (once), and it took me 3 condoms during one regular session because they all broke from being stretched too far, and they only go about half way down. It's the same situation with Durex condoms that I buy from the Quik stores. They don't break, but they're terribly uncomfortable. It's almost impossible to put them on. So I need to know if anyone knows of a place to buy imported condoms, or at least larger condoms in Beijing. Please, I know this must be a common problem. Even though it's of an explicit nature, someone please come forward and help a guy out. Quote
gato Posted September 2, 2007 at 07:45 AM Report Posted September 2, 2007 at 07:45 AM Interesting problem. Maybe you are just too big. Or maybe there's a business opportunity here. Quote

mr.stinky Posted September 2, 2007 at 08:26 AM Report Posted September 2, 2007 at 08:26 AM a former girlfriend worked at a women's clinic, brought home a selection of the free distribution condoms (just curious, not for use, stick with better quality). anyway, they came in three sizes; small, smaller, and extra-small. like goldilocks and the three condoms, only no 'just right' happy ending. yes, the maximum thickness, as indicated on the packaging, is a nominal 52mm, and they do economize on the length. you're either going to have to mail-order, or perhaps try the duty-free shops at the airport. or you can make friends with pilots/stewardii who make frequent trips to the west. md1101 Posted September 2, 2007 at 11:31 AM Report Posted September 2, 2007 at 11:31 AM thats interesting.. i never noticed a difference in size between the condoms i bought there or the ones i buy here (in australia). i usually bought durex there (chinese though from a chinese shop with chinese writing all over the place) and here. you must suffer the same problem all over the place but if you haven't yet then try and buy some of the foreign brands. i'm pretty sure i got mine in watsons chemist. simonlaing Posted September 2, 2007 at 11:46 AM Report Posted September 2, 2007 at 11:46 AM I found the six sense ones or some of the Japanese branded condoms are slightly larger. But the general size is all the same. I find for durability you have to spend some money or they will just break quickly. Pay at least 80 for the larger sized boxes. (not the 3 to a box) . There are a couple in the 100 -250 RMB plus range that are interesting. One kind came in a metal box and seem to eminate a mint flavored smell. Size wise they are mostly the same, splurge on the more expensive brands. They're worth it. Many drug stores sell various varieties. If you have a red (or pink light barber shop) area in your town there are often small sex toy shops near them. They have mini vibrators, inflatable items and condoms. Though the few I have come across don't seem to have much of a condom selection. I guess people mostly go there for the vibrators. I could be wrong. For those that are wondering, I don't go there often , but in China try everything. have fun, Simon:) Quote
gregol Posted November 5, 2007 at 04:18 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 04:18 AM http://en.sweetonline.cn/ and type XL in the search engine of the website. or http://www.taoboa.com and type TROJAN XL in the search engine. i never ordered them there, but i have been using Trojan XL for 10 years now and its one of my favorite. and they are really XL, the American kind of XL. enjoy gregol Quote
flameproof Posted November 5, 2007 at 06:31 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 06:31 AM I use condoms from Europe and Hong Kong (Durex, Okamoto) and can't tell a difference. The Europe ones seem to be a bit longer but width seem the same. No idea about Chinese ones, but I guess imports may be OK. Breakage comes either from subquality material, or from lack of lubrication. If you used a brandname then it's either a fake, or lubrication was not sufficient. Get some KY Jelly too next time. Quote
simonlaing Posted November 5, 2007 at 07:18 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 07:18 AM Hey, this may show my ignorance on these matters, But does anyone know about scented Condoms? Do they smell/taste better? What about leaving residue that can cause infections or bacteria? Recently the Six sense changed their's to have a scent but I am not sure what the difference is 1 and if it has any drawbacks? 2 have fun, Simon:) Quote
BrandeX Posted November 5, 2007 at 08:01 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 08:01 AM I recently tried a sample 3 pack of scented chinese durex brand that came in a package with a bottle of their lubricant. I can't say I noticed in particular difference in quality or usage over the ones I am using now that are just regular (I still have a stash I brought a lot from the US). I didn't hear any complaint from my gf either, and we didnt actually notice it was scented even until we opened the pack, then you could tell. So I would not think scented or not is probably an issue for most people, although some women and maybe even men will have allergic reactions to different things. Quote
flameproof Posted November 5, 2007 at 08:16 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 08:16 AM But does anyone know about scented Condoms? Do they smell/taste better? I think in the "old days" condoms had an anti-sperm lubrication which was very bitter in taste. Another reason could be the smell, some did had a very strong chemical smell. I think nowadays it's a taste issue as you are supposed to use them too when you let do oral sex. It's often forgotten, but many STD can be transmitted orally and China has for sure a very good collection of them. The easy availability of drugs (mainly antibiotics) means also that you will have many DIY healing's - were the person stops the antibiotics as soon as they feel better, causing the bacteria to survive and maybe getting more resistend. flameproof Posted November 5, 2007 at 10:26 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 10:26 AM What's enjoyable is individual. it's about health issues. However, I agree, other forums cover that topic much better. For condoms, I think, there is a range of imports available. If there is nothing near you check some online sellers. Here is a BJ seller offering Durex products: http://item.eachnet.com/prd/detail_prd.do?prdId=1194172140066933 Condom is 安全套 Quote
mr.stinky Posted November 5, 2007 at 10:38 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 10:38 AM i'm really sorry......but BJ seller....does that mean in beijing? Quote
adrianlondon Posted November 5, 2007 at 10:42 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 10:42 AM haha yeah. I always wondered what type of person www.thatsbj.com attracted as well. Quote
roddy Posted November 5, 2007 at 10:55 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 10:55 AM Could we just restrict it to where to buy, you can all discuss the taste in private . . . Quote
gregol Posted November 5, 2007 at 11:02 AM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 11:02 AM http://en.sweetonline.cn/ and type "XL" or "LARGE" in the search bar. you will find the TROJAN XL, i have been using them since 2000. they are great and they are the biggest you will find around. 44 diameter instead of the usual 34 diameter. you can also find a japanese brand with sizes in between 36 and 38, but i never tried them. enjoy gregol Quote
flameproof Posted November 5, 2007 at 12:12 PM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 12:12 PM In my message, and in the forum in general, "BJ" refers to Beijing. Could we just restrict it to where to buy I think the online auction sites are very good starting points, that is http://www.eachnet.com and http://www.taobao.com - you have to handle Chinese though. To find the right product should be a great motivator to learn more Chinese in this case. PS: on http://www.taobao.com do a search for "Durex XL" - and bingo! Quote
scorchio777 Posted November 5, 2007 at 03:25 PM Report Posted November 5, 2007 at 03:25 PM i think the best thing to do is call a friend at home, and tell him to post over a big box of whatever condoms u used to use at home. in return u can send him some cheap viagra Quote
flameproof Posted November 6, 2007 at 03:46 AM Report Posted November 6, 2007 at 03:46 AM in return u can send him some cheap viagra Not a good advice. Drug imports are regulated in most countries. Furthermore, Viagra is a prescription drug in most countries. And one more point, Viagra is often fake in China, causing a potential health risk. Quote
