BLCU - What is the best accomodation option?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have been accepted to BLCU for a four-month program in the fall.

I've heard it's a first-come-first-served environment over there in terms of accomodations.

I've also heard that there's lots of options when it comes to accomodations, there's dorms of various quality as well as private hotels nearby.

Does anyone have any advice when it comes to this? What has your experience been?

Thank you,

Have a look at the accomodation section of my main site (link in the header). Also, what's your budget? Four months is probably a bit short for renting a flat, but you might find somewhere . . .

The dorms are indeed on a first come first served basis. I arrived two days before my class started and the only dorms left were the cheapest one (no a/c & shared bath). There are many nicer ones with a/c and private bathrooms but usually there is a waiting list for those. There is one apartment building right outside the campus where I shared a room with my roommate from the previous dorm. It cost me about 500 - 600 U.S. dollars for a month (quite expensive considering the size) but it does include built-in washer & dryer. Also you have to purchase "electricity cards" separate from your rent. I personally would just try your luck at a nicer dorm room on campus.

I'm not sure how it looked back in 96-97 but when I was there during the summer of 2002, the campus was real pretty. Also during that summer, the new gym had its grand opening. I wish I had taken more pictures of the beautiful campus.
