Is there an English website that has information about various Chinese dictionaries?

Is there a website in English with information about various Chinese dictionaries (Wikipedia wasn't so helpful...), like for example information in English about the Xiandai Hanyu Cidian 现代汉语辞典 ？

By the way, I am wondering if anyone knows of any Beijinghua/Beijinghuar 北京话/北京话儿 dialect Characters 方言字?

Yes, I know... I have a facination in Chinese with the obscure, ie Dialect Characters.

I already know one Beijinghua Dialect Character, 怹 [tan1] which has the meaning of the third person honorary pronoun.

I also know a Wu Dialect 吴语 Character too, 覅 [fiao?-- a truly unique Chinese syllable, also: biao4， fiu?], meaning "don't want" (made up of 勿--a negative/don't do, and the other component 要---to want), I also know many Shanghainese Dialect Characters, like [イ那--one character person/male radical then 那 na?, nuo?---meaning: the second personal pronoun plural equivalent to 你们] ﹐[伲 gni?, ni?---first person pronoun plural, although now replaced by 阿拉, equivalent of 我们], 　[ロ伐--one character, mouth radical then 伐 fa, va meaning the spoken Shanghainese interrogative/question particle equivalent to 吗]....

Can anyone add to my list of collective knowledge of dialect characters?

It seems that you are so interested in dialect characters of Chinese, but in my opinion it’s a little inapprehension.

Because it’s the truth that even most of the native Chinese people know little about it. The characters are hardly used in written Chinese, even though in oral Chinese they are still few used (only used by the local people). So if your purpose is to learn Chinese as a tool, I suggest you spend more time and energy in improve you Mandarin.

But maybe you are one of those who is so interested in something special that even doesn’t care its use value. If in this case, I think I can understand you.
