JimW Posted April 22, 2004 at 06:01 AM Report Posted April 22, 2004 at 06:01 AM I would like to know the jyutpin, and English translation for the following phrases: 万物 没有 一样 (If any of these don't make sense in Cantonese, I'd appreciate knowing the "proper" form.) Jim Wagner Quote
Altair Posted April 23, 2004 at 10:46 PM Report Posted April 23, 2004 at 10:46 PM Hi Jim, What is "jyutpin"? Is this the same as the Yale spellings? With the Yale spellings, 万物 is maan6 mat6 and 一样 is yat1 yeung6. As far as I know, 没有 is not used in normal spoken Cantonese, but corresponds to 冇 mou5. If you visit www.zhongwen.com, you can use Mandarin to look up Cantonese pronunciations by clicking on the Cantonese link at the bottom of the definitions. If you go to this link, you can also click on audio to hear the pronunciations. Let me now if you have any trouble with this. Quote

shibo77 Posted April 26, 2004 at 05:06 AM Report Posted April 26, 2004 at 05:06 AM Jyutping is one of the romanisation systems for Cantonese Chinese. I responded in Grammar and Vocabulary section of the same question. How did you type that mou5 ?? - Shibo Quote
skylee Posted April 26, 2004 at 06:48 AM Report Posted April 26, 2004 at 06:48 AM According to my dictionaries, 冇 in Putonghua is "mao3". The name of the radical is called "同字框". You can type it using Cangjie code "KB". Quote
