citywayne Posted September 14, 2007 at 10:43 PM Report Posted September 14, 2007 at 10:43 PM I tried using Orbitz and some American based airline websites to 'buy' airline tickets for intra-Asia travel. They would not allow me to do so. For our 1st trip, we are interested in going from Taipei to Hong Kong. Which travel websites would be best for this? Any hints and money saving tips would be appreciated. I have not done much intra-Asia travel, but plan on starting soon. Thanks. Quote
Rincewind Posted September 15, 2007 at 02:16 AM Report Posted September 15, 2007 at 02:16 AM Cathy Pacific fly the route you want. A return flight, when I check a few moments ago, costs $340 inc tax. http://www.cathaypacific.com There are also many budget airlines that fly in an out of Hong Kong. For a list of airlines look at http://www.etn.nl/lcostaus.htm though not all of them will fly Taipie to Hong Kong directly. Quote
shanghaikai Posted September 15, 2007 at 05:09 PM Report Posted September 15, 2007 at 05:09 PM Check out ctrip.com or elong.com (partners with expedia I think). You can also hit up a local travel agent and get quotes for prices. There's a gal named Helen on www.shanghaiexpat.com who does this sort of stuff. Here's her thread: http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/index.php?name=MDForum&file=viewtopic&t=59862 Contact her and ask for a quote but be sure to check if she's able to serve you since you're not in Shanghai. Tell her that "adex360" on shanghaiexpat.com referred you. She likely won't know who I am and I won't get anything out of it but she'll appreciate knowing that us expats will support her as long as she does right by us. Good luck and have fun in Hong Kong! citywayne Posted September 17, 2007 at 05:15 AM Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 at 05:15 AM Thanks to all. Everyone has been extremely helpful. I have also found good prices on the Evergreen Air site. Quote
onebir Posted September 18, 2007 at 02:10 AM Report Posted September 18, 2007 at 02:10 AM Skyscanner.net lets you search all the budget flights (although the sometimes miss a few routes). You can leave the dates & exact airports unspecified, so you can shop around for the best price easily. Quote
pandaxiongmao Posted September 19, 2007 at 05:36 AM Report Posted September 19, 2007 at 05:36 AM If you are in Taiwan and can read/type Chinese, http://www.eztravel.com.tw/ might have a good deal for you. Quote
