citywayne Posted September 14, 2007 at 10:45 PM Report Posted September 14, 2007 at 10:45 PM Would it be easier and cheaper to get a multiple entry visa to China (I hold a US passport) in Chicago (where I live, and have obtained a visa for previous travel) or in Hong Kong (I have seen a few posts regarding obtaining visas in Hong Kong). Thanks. Quote
shanghaikai Posted September 15, 2007 at 05:32 PM Report Posted September 15, 2007 at 05:32 PM Why would you want to go to Hong Kong for a visa when you can do it at home? You'll be judged by your citizenship and plans either way. Quote
citywayne Posted September 17, 2007 at 05:16 AM Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 at 05:16 AM Just checking to see if it is a) easier (which it does not seem to be) B) cheaper ... (also answer seems to be no) Thanks. Quote
889 Posted September 17, 2007 at 06:08 AM Report Posted September 17, 2007 at 06:08 AM It won't be any cheaper in Hong Kong than Chicago, and you probably stand a better chance of getting a one-year multiple-entry visa in Chicago under the supposedly-reciprocal agreement between the US and China. Hong Kong, though, is a convenient place to get visas for those who need to get their visas quickly and don't live near a Chinese consulate. Quote
shanghaikai Posted September 17, 2007 at 05:54 PM Report Posted September 17, 2007 at 05:54 PM Hong Kong is great for a lot of expats who have odd visa arrangements where renewal requires them to physically leave the country and re-enter. I honestly haven't quite figured why that is but whatever works for them, I guess. Wherever you are, the cost of the visa should be the same because it is determined by your nationality, unless you're talking about visa procurement services. Either way, it doesn't make sense to spend the money to go to Hong Kong to get your visa when you can do it at home. Cheers, mate. Quote
