Quest Posted September 18, 2007 at 12:20 AM Report Posted September 18, 2007 at 12:20 AM It's just default font. font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; Quote
yonglin Posted September 18, 2007 at 01:40 AM Report Posted September 18, 2007 at 01:40 AM Actually, I would say that this depends on the kind on the standard for display on your computer (don't ask me how to change this though). Although the style sheet might say Arial, Verdana or whatever, these commands are meaningless for displaying Chinese characters. On my computer, this page is displayed in regular SimSun(宋体)typeface. I just read on Wikipedia that this is the standard typeface for simplified characters on Windows. For traditional characters, some people prefer using another typeface such as PMingLiU (for Windows). There was a discussion on this before, and some traditional characters such a 為 look different depending on which font you choose. Acutally, I think that what makes the page you linked to easy to read is that the spacing between the lines is slightly expanded. Quote
rose~ Posted September 18, 2007 at 04:26 PM Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 at 04:26 PM thanks I have the impression that the text looks different in the browser page than it does in Word or a text editor- in the browser (firefox) it seems quite smooth and clear but offline it doesn't look as nice, the lines look a bit jagged. Maybe there is a specific reason why it looks different. I can try the wider spacing for readability though I always seem to need the text really big, even with me specs on. Quote
csit Posted September 20, 2007 at 02:52 PM Report Posted September 20, 2007 at 02:52 PM The other thing I notice about the font is that the color is gray (#666666 according to the CSS file) rather than black. Compare the headline with the body of the text. That may have something to do with your perception of the font's clarity. Quote
