This thread has come full circle.

 

Mine: 斑妃竹, also known as 斑竹 and 湘妃竹, meaning 'dappled bamboo'. ('Gevlekte bamboe' in Dutch.) The more poetic names are because the consorts of 大舜 cried when he died and their tears dappled the bamboo. 斑竹 is also used as an internet synonym (or what is the word for that, intentional 错别字) for 版主. All this according to Wikipedia.

Feels like I ought to have known it, but reading it in a story about recent events in Mali where it was obvious from context still did look it up to check as don't remember seeing it before. So 《凯恩舰哗变记》 is The Caine Mutiny I learned from Baidu.
